Airport: YPLM - Learmouth Airport, Western Australia
This month’s location is on the Tropic of Capricorn. It isn’t a bustling location but still made for a pretty cool place to set down.
Learmonth was originally established in 1940 as a Royal Australian Air Force base. In order to facilitate commercial traffic for resorts in nearby Exmouth, It opened up for civilian use in Dec 1999 via a small terminal on the opposite side of the runway. While it may not be a huge or decadent airport, they did create a rather interesting looking terminal building.
While the airport does see some commercial purposes, it is mainly designated as an emergency landing or alternative landing site when fog or inclement weather impedes normal landings at Perth Airport which is located much further to the south.
