Tour Details
WWII Island HoppingDescription: During WWII, the U.S. Navy adopted a strategy of "island-hopping" or "leapfrogging" to get close to Japan for a possible invasion. The goal was to capture & control strategic islands along a path toward Japan while isolating other islands. This strategy enabled the allies to circumvent heavily fortified islands and capture other less defended islands. Military bases would then be established on the captured islands & used as a launching point for the attack and takeover of another island. The tour will begin at Honolulu, HI. and end in Tokyo. It will cover the islands that were used in the island-hopping campaign. The tour will also visit locations where significant battles were fought. Since this is a "Milatary Tour", any military plane will do. If you like the "Old Iron", here's your chance to roll them out of the hangar and let them stretch their legs.
