GA Tour – The BeneluxDescription: . . . .The term “Benelux” is a portmanteau comprising of the first 2 or 3 letters for BElgium, The NEtherlands, and LUXembourg, which refers to the geographical, economical, and cultural grouping of these three countries. It works for us as well since none of these countries are large enough to support a tour of their own. The grouped area is still small (only 29,000 sq mi) so most legs will be fairly short and keep you low to the ground to enjoy the scenery. . . . .The tour begins at a fairly non-descript island airport (Texel “International” Airport) which is just a grass strip but with an interesting history. I found a great web article on it ( please click here ). The site has many pictures of old planes with one showing an American Airlines Fokker jet doing a touch-and-go on their grass runway.
